Design Features Of Automotive Molds

Automotive mold design is an important part of many industries, including the manufacture of automotive molds, so we need to pay attention to the efficiency of automotive mold design. At the same time, we can improve the efficiency of mold production and design from the following aspects.
1. Mold design is the most important step to improve the quality of the mold, and many factors need to be considered, including the selection of mold materials, the usability and safety of the mold structure, the machinability of mold parts and the convenience of mold maintenance, which should be considered as thoroughly as possible at the beginning of the design. When the mold is designed, try to be compact in structure, easy to operate, and ensure that the mold parts have sufficient strength and rigidity; when the mold structure allows, the corners of each surface of the mold parts should be designed as far as possible to round the corner transition to avoid stress concentration; for the die, cavity and part of the punch, core, can be combined or inlaid structure to eliminate the stress concentration, slender punch or core, appropriate protection measures need to be taken in the structure; for the cold stamping die, the device should be configured to prevent the blockage of the workpiece or waste material. At the same time, it is also necessary to consider how to reduce the impact on the quality of the mold caused by the wear of the sliding fit and the frequent impact parts in long-term use.
2. The selection of automotive mold materials should not only meet the customer's requirements for product quality, but also take into account the cost of the material and its strength in the set cycle, and of course, the selection of materials according to factors such as the type of mold, the way of use, the processing speed, and the main failure mode. For example: the main failure mode of the punching die is the edge wear, it is necessary to choose the material with high surface hardness and good wear resistance; the stamping die mainly bears the periodic load, which is easy to cause surface fatigue cracks and causes the surface layer to peel off, then the material with good surface toughness should be selected; the material with a particularly low friction coefficient should be selected for the deep-drawing die; the material with strong thermal fatigue should be selected due to the cyclic thermal stress of the die-casting die; for the injection mold, when the plastic part is ABS, PP, When the plastic parts are high-finish and transparent materials, corrosion-resistant stainless steel can be selected, and when the batch of products is large, quenched tempered steel can be selected.
